TAEFL needs your support for a very good cause
In keeping with tradition, the Trade and Export Finance team has registered again for the Great Midlands Fun Run on the 4th of June. For the last 5 years, Mark and the team have taken part in the event in Sutton Coldfield, raising money for different charities. This year the charity is KidsOut, selected by the team following its ‘Giving Tree’ initiative last Christmas. Everyone loved the idea of buying a present for a disadvantaged child, rather than Secret Santa in the office.
We all agreed it would be good to choose KidsOut as our charity this year. Their goal is to give disadvantaged children positive experiences in order to help and support them as they become future members of society and the workplace.
While most of the team aren’t convinced that the words ‘fun’ and ‘8.5 miles’ should appear in the same sentence, it’s for a good cause so everyone is going to take part. A couple of the team have embraced a rather more serious approach involving the gym, but most are planning on walking and enjoying the scenes of Sutton Coldfield.
The Great Midlands Fun Run started in 2003 and it has raised £2.83m so far for a whole variety of charities. Trade and Export Finance really believes in local fundraising. Last year it was particularly emotional as the team were raising money for Breast Cancer Care who had been so supportive of our director Mary McErlain in 2016 during her treatment.
The last few years involved lots of wonderful and wacky fancy dress outfits for many of the participants but TAEFL will be running in matching t shirts – nothing too exciting! The reward for running/walking 8.5 miles is finding a pub, so the team will be found enjoying some food with their feet up somewhere. It’s hard work looking after clients, funding orders and raising awareness to SMEs so after a brisk walk we think it’s well deserved.
