Support requires constant  fund-raising

Every 10 minutes someone in the UK hears the devastating news that they have breast cancer. The confusion and fear that this causes will be felt not just by the person diagnosed, but by their family and friends too. Breast Cancer Care is just a phone call or mouse-click away for anyone living with breast cancer ensuring that when breast cancer overshadows life we’re there from day one.

Breast Cancer Care is the only specialist breast cancer support charity working throughout the UK. It was founded in 1973 by Betty Westgate, who had herself been diagnosed with breast cancer. In the ensuing forty years, Breast Cancer Care has supported millions of women, men and families through its face-to-face, phone and online services. The charity also provides training, support and networking opportunities to specialist breast cancer nurses, and Breast Cancer Care publications are used by the majority of breast cancer units throughout the UK. It campaigns for better support and care and promotes the importance of early detection, involving people with breast cancer in all the invaluable work undertaken by the charity.

Above: Claire Compton, a voluntary speaker from Breast Cancer Care, introduces the charity at the Annual TAEFL Awards Ceremony, where it was adopted as TAEFL’s Charity of the Year.
