Ceremony rounds off the 2016 TAEFL Reception

We are delighted to report that Trade and Export Finance’s 4th Annual Reception and Awards Ceremony was a great success.

The reception kicked off with refreshments and an opportunity to network with the wide range of guests in attendance. This created a great buzz in the room. Guests were then invited to sit down to a delicious hot-fork buffet consisting of plaice goujons, homemade beef and mozzarella lasagne, honey roasted vegetables and traditional bread and butter pudding.

Following the meal, our very own Master of Ceremonies Stuart Relton opened the proceedings. Mark Runiewicz, our CEO, took up the baton, keeping his words appropriately short and sweet. He began by thanking members of the team for the work they had carried out over the previous twelve months before introducing our guest speaker Claire Compton.

Claire is a volunteer speaker from Breast Cancer Care, our chosen charity of the year. She gave a very moving and informative presentation, drawing on her personal experiences of the disease and highlighting how the charity had helped her.

As part of the event, TAEFL organised a blind raffle in aid of Breast Cancer Care, where guests were asked to make a donation of any amount in an envelope which was entered in a prize draw. The generosity of our guests raised £470 on the evening; rounded up to £500 by TAEFL.

This was the first of many activities during the year when TAEFL, its associates and friends will have an opportunity to raise funds for this vitally important cause.

Three winners span spectrum of achievement

Each year, TAEFL makes awards to clients who have distinguished themselves through their achievements. None of the award winners at this year’s ceremony knew in advance that they had been selected, and were genuinely surprised and grateful for the recognition.

The ‘Exporter of the Year’ award was presented by Gerald La Touche from UKTI to Graham and Lisa Corfield of Aviramp Ltd. Gerald was invited to present this award as he had spoken at our Export Week event last November, and TAEFL has a strong relationship with UKTI. Aviramp was chosen for this award as the designers and manufacturers of a highly innovative aircraft boarding ramp. The system offers huge benefits to wheelchair users, other travellers with limited mobility and passengers such as families with push-chairs for whom boarding an aircraft can be something of a nightmare. The value of this solution has been recognised internationally as the Aviramp system has been exported to locations across the globe including Mexico and The UAE.

The ‘Deal of the Year’ award was presented to Grahame Winter of Interior Classics (Projects) Ltd (ICP) by David James, who makes video-based informative programmes on business. ICP was selected for the award as the funding provided through TAEFL has enabled the company to accept more orders than it could otherwise have done. TAEFL support gave Grahame and his team the confidence that they had the funding to take their enlarged order book through to completion.

Finally, the ‘Client of the Year’ award was presented by our Chairman Ken Gibbs to David Bide and Bart Gesner of Armadillo Marketing Ltd. Armadillo was chosen as our Client of the year because the company has demonstrated huge growth potential. Armadillo has been able to take its advanced LED-based lighting business into new markets including highways authorities in the US.

Throughout the event David James, who makes videos for the BBC, was on hand to capture the event and find out what our clients think about us. To hear what Graham from Aviramp, David from Armadillo and Haroun from Solarym Energy (another one of our clients) said; check out the video on our website homepage.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event. We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did! To find out more about the upcoming events we are hosting, or attending, please check out the events section on our homepage or email chloe@taefl.co.uk for more information.
